The International Community Open Baseball Tournament is an open newbie tournament for ages 7 thru 12-years old. All levels of ability are welcome, including fully Japanese families that have lived abroad or go to an international school. This tournament is centered on casual players who wish to only play baseball for a short time each year.
The Tournament is run at American School in Japan in conjunction with the Tokyo American Club and run by the West Tokyo Dodgers coaching staff. The tournament uses a rubber “C” ball which is standard in all little leagues here in Japan, and is much safer than a hard ball.
The first two Sundays players are evaluated to then be placed into their respective teams to even out the abilities of the teams. Players only need a glove and cap, as equipment.
The games will get underway in May and end in early June. The master schedule and organizational center can be found on the West Tokyo Dodgers: Grades 1-6 forum (link: http://www.meetup.com/baseball-in-tokyo-group/ ).
Located on this site will be games, practice schedules, rain day cancellations, communication between coaches & families, and much more to make coordination easy.
To gather the most information a parent must sign on to the Meet Up System and then join the group (2-steps). Free parking is to be had, and a train station is a 10-minute walk away.
