At Yoyogi International School, we recently celebrated our first United Nations (UN) Day. This annual event allows us to celebrate the diversity of over 20 different nationalities within our school community. This year was especially significant as it was the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations organization.
All the staff and students dressed in clothes representing their Home Countries and each classroom was filled with decorations, activities and music. We all then traveled around the world, stamping our passport as we learnt about each classroom country we visited.
We performed an Israeli folk dance, built famous English monuments from construction materials, sorted Italian pasta, painted a Deft plate in the Netherlands and much more! It was such a wonderful day, and another successful way to follow our school’s mission as we continue to guide children to be open-minded and develop integrity to become active members of the global society.
