Ian de Stains OBE is the Executive Director of TELL. A resident of Tokyo for 38 years, he has lived in a monogamous relationship with his same-sex partner for 28 of those years. Since changes in the UK law permitted it, they have enjoyed a legal civil partnership that has been recognized — albeit unofficially — in Japan. In discussion on November 7 during this month’s Exceptional Parenting Program workshop entitled “LGBTQ; The sensitive approach,” Ian will talk about what it means to be on the LGBTQ spectrum and, most importantly, honestly answer questions from the audience.
The workshop will be held at the Wesley Center 2F, Seminar Room, from 7–9pm. Entrance is free, but donations will be highly appreciated. RSVP Chie Sawa at [email protected].
Also, this month TELL is supporting the Orange Ribbon campaign run by the Child Abuse Prevention National Network. TELL’s Child Protection Program provides workshops to schools in understanding child abuse and navigating the Japanese child protection system. See http://www.orangeribbon.jp for information about the campaign (Japanese only), or contact Ai Kokunugi, TELL Child Protection Program Coordinator, for more details.
