In December, Aichi International School (AIS) students visited various places for field trips. The Orca class went to Seto to learn about ceramics and practise their painting, and grades 2 and 3 went to the Science Museum and learned more about constellations as a part of their science curriculum.

Grade 1 students went to the Toyota practice grounds of the newly crowned J-League (soccer) champions, the Nagoya Grampus Eight. On the day, students observed the first team players stretching, passing, and playing practice games.

Following the training session, students were able to meet the players and have their photos taken with them, including Japanese internationals Keiji Tamada and Yu Kanazaki. Students were also able to meet players from other countries including Danilson from Colombia and Magnum from Brazil.

The most exciting part of the day for students was asking the players for their autographs. At the end of the 90-minute training session, students were able to return to AIS with books full of players’ signatures.

This year has been full of soccer experiences for AIS students following the World Cup, and now they’ve visited the Nagoya Grampus Eight. Students are sure to continue their interest in soccer during 2011 as Japan plays in the Asian Cup in Qatar in January.
