Japan School News is a free monthly publication containing news stories about member schools. All content is available on this site as well as in print.
First launched in May 2010 by Caroline Pover—a Tokyo-based British author, award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, and consultant—JSN is reminiscent of newsletters from the school days of the parents’ of today’s generation, intended to be a little bit nostalgic in its look and feel, and to focus on individual and school news and achievements.
10,000 copies are distributed to over 500 locations throughout Japan. Outlets include business class airline lounges, bookstores, cafes, restaurants, places of worship, embassies, hotels, immigration offices, doctor’s clinics and medical centres, relocation companies, major corporations, fitness centres, beauty salons, libraries, supermarkets, private members’ clubs, foreign residences, ward offices, and schools themselves.
Japan School News is free of advertising, yet maintains such an extensive distribution through member schools paying a monthly membership fee, and the support of Evergreen Outdoor Center. For membership information, contact [email protected].
Caroline Pover is also author of the Guide to International Schools in Japan and Being A Broad in Japan: Everything a Western woman needs to survive and thrive, and founder of the monthly Being A Broad magazine.
Those interested in writing for JSN should submit writing samples to Caroline via email at [email protected].

May 10, 2010 at 6:56 pmThanks so much for the enthusiasm! We sent 200 copies to Bob Pomeroy at Yokohama International School last week so they should be somewhere there! I’m so glad you like it! I’ve had a lot of fun working on this project and am already excited about stories in the June issue.
